A book publisher needed a powerful distribution tool to maintain contact with eBook buyers through the Internet and mobile devices. SoloSoft designed and implemented a solution with a custom iPhone app, company website and web-based administration tool.
San Mateo, CA (PRWEB) April 22, 2010 - SoloSoft has developed an iPhone Application to help book publisher 'Happy About' tap into a new market: mobile customers. The publisher recognized the need to engage readers and reach new customers for the THINKaha book series. The books focus on a target market that reads on the go. Each book provides timely, cutting-edge information from relevant experts in a fun, Twitter-brief format.
SoloSoft had two main goals in partnering with Happy About:
- To maximize the revenue and visibility they could earn by accessing mobile traffic, and
- To make it easy for the book publisher and authors to update content, run reports, collect user data and track sales.

Happy About needed a powerful distribution tool to maintain contact with eBook buyers through the Internet and mobile devices. SoloSoft designed and implemented a solution with a custom iPhone app, company website and web-based administration tool.
With this solution, it's easy for the publisher and authors to update and manage content. Custom reports show downloads, purchases and other information. Once content is updated both the THINKaha iPhone application and the website go live in real-time.
Programs used to build the platform include:
- iPhone SDK including Xcode
- iPhone simulator and performance tool
The books can be added/removed/modified instantly from web-based CMS and the iPhone application will update within seconds. The book content and images can also be uploaded in the back-end CMS for each specific book. The changes will be displayed on iPhone application immediately. This allows managing book inventory - promoting some books for free and giving discount on others.
"With the iPhone ebook app, the client can make changes in response to changing market conditions. They can instantly add new books, feature books for promotions and test the results. They can also follow up with customers to develop an ongoing relationship. All of this leads to fine tuning their marketing and ultimately getting their books in front of more people," said Rafael Soultanov, Director of Project Management office.
Happy About CEO Mitchell Levy sees the application and web site as a way to reach a mobile audience who read on the go. The books give quick access an 'aha moment' that can improve lives and careers. It's also a way to expand their market reach in a new way. "Having our books available via the THINKaha iPhone app provides a significant opportunity expand our reach to an audience we haven't been able to touch before," he said.
The stand-alone eBooks iPhone application is available for purchase through the iTunes store and includes a sample book. Customers may download up to 3 ebooks for free. If they like what they read, they can purchase more ebooks. The THINKaha book series can be found at http://www.thinkaha.com/books
